A building collapse in Birmingham has prompted the evacuation of neighbouring properties with the area cordoned off today, Wednesday, October 16. The emergency services responded to reports of a ‘structurally dangerous building’ on Cotterills Lane.
The incident involved the gable end of a two-storey terraced property which had collapsed in the city. No-one was believed to have been injured.
West Midlands Fire Service crews are working with Cadent Gas and the National Grid, who are assessing the scene to ensure the utilities are safely isolated. Specialist teams, including the council’s structural engineer and the fire technical rescue teams, have been called to assist. A crew from Ward End Fire Station remains in attendance.
